Birdhouse Tips

Location is Important

1.  Locate where the birdhouse will get morning sun and afternoon shade.

          * Morning sun is ideal

          * Protect the birdhouse from hot afternoon sun.

          * A cooler environment helps protect eggs and hatchlings.

2.  Face the Birdhouse EAST or SOUTHEAST

3.  Mount the birdhouse securely.

          * Mount on/in tree or on a sturdy post

          * Mount 5-10 feet high

          * Mount so there is a clear flight path to the entrance of the birdhouse.

Maintenance is Important

1.  Optional UV protection can be installed but isn't required.

2.  Inspect the birhouse annually to ensure hardware and overall condition still maintains secure mounting.

3.  Utilize the access door to clean annually.

          * Open access door

          * Remove old nesting

          * Brush out all loose debris

          * Secure access door
